This participation represents one of the concrete actions taken under Komori's Sustainability Policy. Throughout the one-year support period from February 2026 to January 2027, Komori is supporting SUMIDA AQUARIUM's sustainability activities while strengthening its connection with the local community.

As part of these efforts, Komori participated in the 4th AQTION! Supporters Appreciation Event, held on June 24, 2026, at SUMIDA AQUARIUM, located on the 5th and 6th floors of TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN® Solamachi. The event provided an opportunity for AQTION! supporter companies to learn about the project's activities and achievements over the past year.

AQTION! Activity Report

Following opening remarks by Mr. Rui Kawasumi, General Manager of SUMIDA AQUARIUM, Director of SUMIDA AQUARIUM, Tomohiro Kakizaki, presented an overview of AQTION!'s initiatives during fiscal year 2025.

1. Collaboration with Sumida City

In 2022, SUMIDA AQUARIUM and Sumida City entered into a partnership agreement aimed at biodiversity conservation and regional revitalization. Their collaborative activities include educational outreach programs, participation in community events, and hands-on workshops where elementary school students collect and observe aquatic creatures living in local rivers.

2. Joint Research and Awareness Activities for Magellanic Penguins in Argentina

To promote public engagement and enhance expertise in animal care, SUMIDA AQUARIUM conducted field research on Magellanic penguins in Argentina, their native habitat, in collaboration with local researchers using biologging devices. The knowledge gained through these efforts has been shared through lectures and educational programs both within and beyond the aquarium, helping raise awareness of the species and its conservation challenges.

During the event, Ms. Yukari Takashima, a member of the aquarium's animal care team, who participated in the field research, shared her firsthand experiences in Argentina through photographs and videos.

In addition to these initiatives, the report showcased a variety of programs aimed at biodiversity conservation and community engagement, including:
The Tokyo Goldfish Project, which provides families with opportunities to learn about the ecology and appeal of goldfish through exhibitions and participation in the Edogawa City Goldfish Festival.

Sea Turtle Conservation Activities, under which two juvenile green sea turtles are raised for approximately one year until they reach a size less vulnerable to predators, after which they are returned to their native ocean habitat.

The presentation demonstrated how AQTION! brings together field research, community engagement, and educational exhibits as part of an integrated approach to sustainability. This strong connection among conservation, education, and regional collaboration is one of the defining characteristics of SUMIDA AQUARIUM's AQTION! project.

Interactive Experience Programs

Participants were invited to observe feeding sessions for garden eels and to see a baby penguin up close. An AQTION! supporter display board inside the aquarium featured a Komori logo plate, helping communicate to visitors Komori's commitment as a corporate supporter to contributing to the local communities and society.

The 4th AQTION! Supporters Appreciation Event provided a valuable opportunity to gain deeper insight into the growing impact of SUMIDA AQUARIUM's sustainability initiatives.

Komori shares AQTION!'s aspiration that future generations will be able to enjoy the same natural environment and biodiversity that we experience today. Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen collaboration with local communities, address social and environmental challenges through our business activities, and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
