Komori People: Building Trust Through Face-to-Face Connections
Minami Yagi, Greater China Sales Section of Overseas Sales Department 2
02 April 2026
Yagi, a member of the Overseas Sales Department 2, Greater China Sales Section, is responsible for managing sales in the Taiwan market and supporting sales activities, and serving as the main contact for the 29-inch Sheetfed UV Inkjet Digital Printing Press J-throne 29 in Greater China. Drawing on her experience in the Tsukuba Personnel Department and Production Management Section at the Tsukuba Plant, she plays an active role as a bridge connecting on-site technology with customers around the world.
Print Technology That Delivers the Passion of Manufacturing
I am currently responsible for three main roles in the Greater China Sales Section of Overseas Sales Department 2.
First, I provide comprehensive sales support to help our local subsidiaries in China conduct business negotiations smoothly, ranging from preparing export-related documents to arranging customer visits.
Second, I handle overseas sales for the Taiwan market.
Third, I serve as the point of contact for the digital printing press J-throne 29 in the Greater China region. In this role, I collaborate with other departments to conduct demonstrations and printing tests, as well as support sales negotiations.
For me, delivering "Print Technology" does not simply mean selling printing presses; it means accurately connecting our customers' expectations with the technology of the Tsukuba Plant.
When I first joined Komori, I gained experience in the Personnel Department and the Production Management Section at the Tsukuba Plant. The on-site perspective I developed there--understanding how presses are built and managed at each stage of the production process--has been invaluable in my current sales activities, enabling me to make optimal proposals in response to customer specification requests.
In addition, my understanding of the manufacturing workflow allows me to present realistic delivery schedules that take into account the actual workload on the production floor when coordinating lead times. I am always mindful of carrying the "passion for manufacturing" that I witnessed at the plant into every step, from confirming specifications to adjusting delivery schedules, and delivering that value to customers around the world.
Proof of My Work Found on the Streets of Taiwan
When I see the presses, I have been involved with in operation and come across packages printed by them on the streets of Taiwan during business trips, I strongly feel that my work "supports society" and "brings inspiration." Printed materials are indispensable, forming the very foundation of a country's culture and economy.
The printed products created by the presses I have worked on become part of valuable goods and cultural expression, crossing borders and becoming integrated into the daily lives of countless people. Witnessing such scenes firsthand fills me with pride, knowing that Komori's technology helps shape everyday life around the world, while also making me keenly aware of my responsibility to reliably deliver that value.
Building Solid Trust Through Face-to-Face Communication
What I value most is "face-to-face communication" and "a sense of speed that earns trust." In my interactions with customers and local subsidiary staff, I place great importance on building deep, personal relationships and fostering genuine mutual understanding. I believe that communicating in a customer's native language brings greater appreciation, so I often convey greetings and expressions of thanks in Chinese. While it is still challenging to explain technical printing terminology in Chinese, I continue to practice with my team members to improve.
Another key principle I value is the ability to make proposals with speed. Rather than simply accepting customer requests, I strive, as a manufacturer's sales representative, to calmly, carefully, and swiftly propose the solutions that are truly needed at the moment--especially for the underlying challenges customers may not explicitly express.
Working as one team with local subsidiary staff, I find the greatest fulfillment in moments when our efforts lead to successful orders, or when customers remember my name and rely on me.
A New Challenge Toward Expanding Digital Printing in the Greater China Region
My career in overseas sales has only just begun, and each day is a continuous learning experience. My immediate goal is to steadily build up each task at hand and become someone whom customers and local subsidiary staff can genuinely trust as a reliable representative, someone they feel will respond sincerely to their needs.
Following a recent market survey in Taiwan, I have gained strong confidence in the future potential of the 29-inch Sheetfed UV Inkjet Digital Printing Press J-throne 29. Moving forward, I aim to communicate its value more deeply and accurately, contributing to the wider adoption of digital printing across the Greater China region.
By developing a thorough understanding of both the strengths of conventional offset presses and the latest digital printing technologies, I aspire to grow step by step into a professional capable of delivering optimal, customer-focused solutions.
A Rewarding First Overseas Business Trip Achieved as a Team
One of my most memorable experiences was my first solo overseas business trip, during which I was able to secure an order on site.
As it was my first time meeting the customer, I gathered as much information as possible in advance from local subsidiary staff and senior colleagues. I carefully prepared by simulating potential questions and reviewing machine specifications. Although I felt nervous on the day, I relied on the knowledge I had built up, acted on my own judgment, and engaged with the customer sincerely. As a result, I was able to earn their trust and successfully secure the order.
When I reported the outcome to my supervisors and colleagues, I was especially happy that they celebrated the achievement as if it were their own. At the same time, I realized that this success was only possible thanks to the support of the local staff and my senior colleagues. This experience not only gave me confidence as a sales professional but also renewed my sense of gratitude toward those around me.
How I Spend My Days Off
I have always loved traveling and animals, and recently, nothing refreshes me more than going on trips in a camper van with my family and our dog. Last year, we drove from my hometown in Miyagi Prefecture to Ōma in Aomori, then took a ferry to Hakodate and enjoyed a journey across Hokkaido.
Spending time freely with my dog, without being bound by schedules or locations, is truly special. I especially enjoy those moments when we happen to stop by a roadside station and discover local ingredients unique to the area.
One of my current dreams is to travel to Australia someday to see the quokka, often called "the happiest animal in the world."

As a bridge between customers in the Greater China region and Komori's technology, Yagi's challenge will continue to expand.
